Modules for Certificate Level
The WSQ Certificate in Security is a competency-based training programme targeted at unarmed frontline officers who are deployed at various locations or events to perform security roles. It is intended to equip the Security Officer with the basic skills and knowledge to conduct security operations. This programme incorporates both the theoretical and practical aspects of basic security operations.
Full Qualification – Certificate in Security
Under the Skills Framework (SFw) for Security, full qualification for Certificate in Security requires the learner to complete 5 modules:
- Guard and Patrol (Provide Guard and Patrol Services)
- a) Incident Response (Handle Security Incidents and Services) OR b) Incident Response (Assist in the Evacuation of Premises)
- Threat Observation (Recognise Terrorist Threats)
- Access Control Management (Operate Basic Security Equipment)
- Deterrence (Manage Disorderly Conduct and Threatening Behaviour)
Note: Modules (1), (2a) and (3) are also part of the Basic Licensing Units.
The programme incorporates the theoretical and practical aspects in security operations at the workplace. At the end of each module, participants will be subjected to an assessment to test their competencies on the respective modules. The assessment is based on oral questions, role plays, written reports and demonstrations in equipment handling.
Upon successful completion of the individual modules, a WSQ Statement of Attainment for the respective module will be duly awarded by SSG. After successfully completing the required modules, you will be awarded a WSQ Certificate in Security and the related transcript by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
Please note that the courses are offered on a modular basis.
Who should attend:
Security Officers, Senior Security Officers, Executive protection Officers and Security Screening Officers.
Entry Requirements
- Able to listen, read, write and speak English at WPLN Level 2 or equivalent
*Those that do not meet the entry requirements will be subjected to interview before acceptance.
*Average teacher: student ratio for each module is 1 : 20.
