Access Control Management (Operate Basic Security Equipment)

Operate Basic Security Equipment (OBSE) course is one of the mandatory Security Officer (SO) course. All Security Officers are required to complete this course by December 2025 to maintain deployability (For more details, please click HERE.
This course covers the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of a security personnel to operate an access control, alarm monitoring and closed circuit television (CCTV) monitoring equipment.

Learning Outcomes

  • Able to identify the access points of entry for different levels of authorised entry
  • Able to operate the access control equipment in accordance to organisation
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Able to report the location of unauthorised entry
  • Able to identify the nature of unauthorised entry
  • Able to carry out basic troubleshooting and report any equipment fault to the supervisor
  • Able to complete relevant documentation relating to the access control equipment

Entry Requirements

  • Able to listen, read, write and speak English at WPLN Level 2 or equivalent

*Those that do not meet the entry requirements will be subjected to interview before acceptance.

Learners should also be able to read a computer monitor and see at a distance and possess basic skills in operating a computer

Course Duration and Timings
1.5 days (12 training hours), 0900hrs to 1800hrs daily
Summative Assessment by POLWEL – 2nd day (2 hours)
*All learners must attain an assessment outcome of ‘Competent’ to complete the course.
